Join the Blackdown Care Connections Network

We are building a network of independent micro-providers who share our commitment to supporting people across the Blackdown area and who agree to work within standards developed and enforced by Somerset and Devon Council.

Whether you are an experienced micro-provider or just starting out, the network can support you to understand the expectations of joining the network, including standards developed and enforced by Somerset and Devon Council, and can help raise the visibility of micro-providers locally.

It will improve public awareness of local micro-provider options and support the development of more choice for residents of the Blackdown Hills.

Every micro-provider connected with the network will be expected to work to the Care Connections principles and standards developed and enforced by Somerset and Devon Council, supporting clear expectations around respectful, lawful and person-centred practice.

Micro-Providers in the network must:

Commit to standards developed and enforced by Somerset and Devon Council and a shared code of conduct
Be clear about what support they can and cannot provide
Promote independence
Value diversity
Respond appropriately to changing circumstances, including raising concerns where needed
Comply with legal and regulatory requirements relevant to their own work
Accept that concerns about conduct may be reviewed against the network expectations and could affect continued membership

Micro-providers in the network will be asked to provide evidence that they are:

DBS checked
Fully insured
Fair and transparent in their pricing
Appropriately trained
Committed to standards developed and enforced by Somerset and Devon Council

A small annual membership fee applies, which helps the Blackdown Support Group fund and deliver this service.
